Certification Program Policies

Exam Retake Policy

Candidates are granted a one-year eligibility period to pass the exam. During the eligibility period, candidates have up to three attempts to pass the exam. A candidate may not retake an examination in the same testing window as the original attempt. After the third attempt, candidates must wait a year from the date of the last exam appointment to reply for certification. At the fourth attempt, candidates will be required to complete the initial certification process again, including application, supporting documentation, and initial exam fee.

Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy

Candidates can reschedule or cancel their online proctored exam up to 72 hours before the scheduled exam appointment. Late rescheduling and cancellations will result in an administrative fee of $50 USD. It is recommended that candidates reschedule or cancel their exam as soon as possible.

For emergency situations where candidates are unable to change their exam appointment before the 72-hour timeframe, candidates must contact the NDA Staff. NDA will evaluate each emergency case-by-case basis. Candidates will need to provide an explanation and supporting documentation (e.g., accident report, medical documentation, etc.) to determine if an administrative fee is appropriate. If the claim is not approved, candidates will be responsible for the administrative fee required to test.

Emergency Situations

In the case an emergency situation has occurred resulting in (1) missing a scheduled exam appointment (no-show status) OR (2) rescheduling/cancelling within 72 hours of the appointment, NDA will examine the case and take the appropriate action.

Emergency situations are as followed:

  • Medical emergency
  • Natural disaster
  • Death or Illness in the immediate family
  • Military deployment

*Work-related circumstances are not considered emergency situations.

No-Show Status

Failure to appear to the exam appointment will result in a no-show status. No-show status results in forfeit of the exam fee and candidates will be required to pay the full re-test fee in order to schedule another exam appointment.

Testing Accomodations Policy

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is the policy of the National Demolition Association (NDA) to accept and process applications for testing, and when deemed appropriate, provide accommodations to qualifying examinees. For examinees testing outside of the United States, NDA will provide testing accommodations in accordance with applicable law. Candidates must formally request accommodation 30 days before the exam application deadline in writing and must include official supporting documentation. Documentation must include a specific diagnosis by a qualified physician or psychologist. Supporting documentation may include records, reports, evaluations, assessments. That documentation must not be more than six months old for psychiatric and recent physical disabilities, five years old for long-term disabilities, or three years old for all other disabilities. Reasonable accommodations must be submitted at the time of application.
